Bio
Courtney Ritz Lednicky feels very priveleged to have joined this amazing group of writers in 2023. She writes and illustrates a mix of character-driven speculative fiction and poetry, often with wordplay (ex: If she was as cool as some of her fellow WGW–now QSQ– writers she would have put s/wordplay. Though she does occasionally juggle knives about as long as swords and has since gotten to try axe, knife, and spear throwing thanks to a fellow member)! She holds a BA in political science from Carleton College and any of her three awesome kids when they want a hug. Her experience as their mom inspires a good chunk of her writing, including her current sci-fi novel-in-progress “Earthmothership”.
Her novel is set in the Knot-A-Verse, where she knots many (‘)verses into stories, poems, and art. When she’s not child wrangling, she posts some to her website knotaverse.com. Much of her work includes portmanteaus, audio or visual puns, various sorts of double meanings and/or ambiguous figures.
Courtney enjoys playing with the inherent ambiguity of language to find unexpected interconnectedness, but often finds sadly expected misunderstanding instead. Both of these feature in a recently completed chapbook of illustrated poetry and a full-length collection-in-progress.
